Freedom Cum Soon by Judith Salmon
Judith Salmon has been making original prints for decades and has interwoven the dynamic aspects of printmaking with her mixed media paintings on canvas. Being known as a democratic art form, prints are generally created as editions or multiple images, from one matrix, rather than as single originals. Several persons can own one of an edition of 10 or larger editions of signed prints. Judith was awarded for her distinctive suite of six relief prints on the life of Jamaican Hero Marcus Mosiah Garvey. She also received the Dawn Scott Memorial Award for her series of monotypes titled: Mother, Mother Mother. Both awards were from the National Gallery of Jamaica, while her relief print titled: Unmasking the Goddess, is now archived by the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC.
